Manuel Alvarez Bravo
I connect with this photographer because I like the composition of his photos and what he incorporates in his photos. There are a lot of religious type of pictures in his book that kind of stuck out to me because they are unique and I'm interested in unique unorthodox types of photos. Bravo also has a few pictures of sunsets and landscape and those two topics are always an interesting topic for me. The most interesting thing that stuck out to me was his cover and the back of the book. It was cool that he put a picture on the front and then a picture of nothing but black on the back of his book. I thought it was a good idea and could possibly be a metaphor for something but I'm not too sure.
This book is titled "Polaroids" The pictures were taken by Manuel Alvarez Bravo. This book consists of mostly just Bravo's pictures but also an intro. There is little writing in the book besides the intro and I find that very interesting. There aren't even photo titles. I found out that Bravo was a natural photographer. He always understood how to work a function before he read the manual. He always took his camera, tripod, and flims everywhere he went. I connect with him better after I read his intro because I also want to be a layback photographer who just takes his camera and photographs everywhere he goes. That interests me and i feel like I can relate to him a lot.

Bravo was known as the centerpiece of Latin photography. He took photos for 80% of his life so it seems correct. He was such an inspirational photographer because he simply just packed a camera and took it everywhere. He was in love with photography and I don't think he ever wanted to stop taking photos. His images are compelling because they look so complex, but in reality they are simple and casual. His impact is so strong due to his style. Bravo wasn't inspired by other photographers but he was mostly inspired by different styles. In Bravo's wikipedia, I found out that Bravo was influenced by European cubism and French surrealism. Here are some examples.
I couldn't find any sales for his photos, but his photos can be seen at ManuelAlvarezBravo.org Manuel Bravo also taught photography at the Escuela Central de Artes Plásticas or the National School of Arts. His two most famous students were Nacho Lopez and Hector Garcia. here are some examples of their work.

You can tell from Bravo's photos that he has a style that is casual, yet it has the right amount of complexity to make it interesting. I couldn't find much on what he was like as a person, but it seemed like he was a cool, laid back type of guy, and he put that into his photos. http://manuelalvarezbravo.org
